I use the program Panomaker4 Pro by Arcsoft. I have been really happy with this program because it has great algorithms for matching both stitching detail and exposure between panels. It also has a great manual alignment tool on the few occasions when the auto stitching gets fooled on really tough joines. Price is much more reasonable than PTGui.
It also has a neat feature that allows you to make 360 degree panos and it creates a web widget that can be easily incorprated into a web page. Here is an example of a 360 I took at the top of Mt Lola near Donner Pass. Excuse the gaps in the pano, but I did it hand held and doing a 360 hand held is a bit of a challenge. You can adjust the speed of the panning by mousing over the image.
