Had the opportunity to drive down from Reno to San Diego on Hwy 395 in California last week to catch California's
autumn color. I think this is the most scenic drive in California and I usually make it twice a year. Here are
some panorama shots from along the highway on the current and past trips.

More of my panos here: http://www.lamsonweb.com/Galleries/Panomania/index.htm

Hey George,

You were NOT joking. Pretty cool. How are you stitching them together? They look well done. I have on-going difficulties with my panos. My favorite compositions are numbers 3, 4 and 8. I like the fall color in all of them.

James

James,

I use the program Panomaker4 Pro by Arcsoft. I have been really happy with this program because it has great algorithms for matching both stitching detail and exposure between panels. It also has a great manual alignment tool on the few occasions when the auto stitching gets fooled on really tough joines. Price is much more reasonable than PTGui.

It also has a neat feature that allows you to make 360 degree panos and it creates a web widget that can be easily incorprated into a web page. Here is an example of a 360 I took at the top of Mt Lola near Donner Pass. Excuse the gaps in the pano, but I did it hand held and doing a 360 hand held is a bit of a challenge. You can adjust the speed of the panning by mousing over the image.

Hey George,

That is amazing. I was not sure what you meant by a 360 pano (outside that it would stretch around). I have not seen something like that before. How much did you say the software package is?
