James,
How did you do these? At the shelter, or did you bring the dogs to your studio?
Beautiful picture, and a beautiful dog. I think the color is nice. I see a bit of blue on my monitor, but it underscores the feeling of "ice" and the blue in Missy's eyes.

The color looks right on through my monitor. She is indeed a lovely girl. Possibly raw diet would help her with her problem. I hope she finds a home. I was just at a shelter on Friday where a look alike to her came in that day.
We just lost our best advocate for Sibs this year though Adopt a Husky. Both the wife and husband died within months of each other. This breed needs all it can get to place them in the right home. I hope you have a good rescue group in your area.
Lovely pictures James, and I am sure they will help her.

James - very nice, though they do look a little pinkish on my calibrated monitor. Nice color on the pup and I love the blue eyes. Did you use any diffusers on the speedlites?
I'm looking to try to help out some rescues in the area with photos. I think these kids look much more adoptable to people in photos like these rather than the typical photograph that the rescues have to take with stuff in the background, leads, etc. It puts their best "paw" forward when someone is looking to rescues one of these poor kids. Bravo for your good deeds.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the comments. These shelter shots are very difficult to do. You are on location with some very nervous dogs/puppies with a ton of people around...though, LOL, the husky breed seems typically less nervous and just more overly excitable than most breeds. This was actually done at a benefit for the Husky House. We are doing a holiday benefit coming up on the 12th. We made the mistake of taking Mahkayla with us, instead of hiring a sitter to walk her, and it was a bit of a nightmare. Mahkayla is running for mayor, and behaviorally is very 'true to breed' for a husky mix. LOL, she is VERY cute though. :P
As to how this was done...we have been stuck using fewer lights than we typically would for doing a portrait. The last several sessions have been 'two light' specials with Gary Fong Domes on to soften and disperse the light just a bit. They are effective, but I prefer a three light speed-light system as it gives you more creative options for lightening up the face, etc. This weekend I am going to B&H and I will pick up a new stand (my 3rd light stand is missing all of its screws that allow you raise/lower the light).
James
