Just to illustrate how nice it is down on the Florida panhandle where the beach faces South toward the Gulf of Mexico, here are two shots from the beach where we were staying.

Here's just a few from Michigan. I live within walking distance to the State Park beach and the sunsets can be spectacular:

Uh, is this a sunset competition? Didn't know we were doing that kind of thing. First of all, I like all the images that have been posted. I would have liked it even more if Geo and Nolad had acknowledged what Preston posted instead of trying to "one up" him. Which you didn't BTW.

We all have these types of images. Some are extraordinary. Some are ordinary. I was interested in what Preston got on the Panhandle because I wanted to go to that location and get similar shots. I'm not going to Michigan nor am I going to Sacramento. So, while I enjoy those posts, it isn't a competition. All are great images which I truly enjoy.

ps, were you using filters? We seldom get any clouds here in San Diego so sunrise and sunsets not nearly so dramatic...

Thanks Diana. Just a UV filter for this shot. I must say I used my circular polarizer more that week than I had since I bought it.

What a sour puss!
Did it ever occur to you that we really enjoyed those shots and are encouraged that others do as well?
Did it ever occur to you that there are many sunset/sunrise shots that others have that without posting we will not see.
Did it ever occur to you that we didn't ask YOU for a critique. Your miss-manners are obvious.
BTW, thanks for NOT giving your opinion like that again, we all can do without it.

Jim,

In that part of Florida, there does seem to be much more to shoot than just the beach. I would have liked to have had something longer than my 200mm to shoot some of the pelicans and ospreys. Also with all the lagoons and inland lakes you can find landscapes of interest.

We passed by this stand of pine trees one day, and came back out the next morning to shoot them:

I goosed up the magenta a bit in post, probably overdid it.
