And yes, I worked my tail off to get this one pose that showcases the two black leg patches on this wonderful Turkish Van. With every other angle they totally disappeared to the camera.

Are those patches particular to the breed or just an interesting part of this individual cat?

Turkish Vans are only allowed to have color on the head and tail, and small random markings up to 15% of the coat are allowed. These patches were both symmetrical and only on the inside of the leg, so it is really a signature look for this particular kitten, something that you want to feature when you see it.

Dang, I wish I could see these images. Anything on pbase is off limits while I'm at work. But, flickr works! Go figure. Will check these out when I get home.

And this is her brother, the contortionist, grooming the markings prior to the shoot.

Awesome job Preston, I know how much work a very specific shot like that takes! Was this at the MO show this last weekend?

If you look at the bottom left you can see that this is burgundy. What color is the background?

I don't have a "real" red backdrop yet but have been using a red/burgandy one. I really like the material and I like that it stays dark even with the BG light. I actually lost my BG light on a few of my photos from the show a couple weekends ago, can't remember why. Here are a couple of my favorites from that backdrop. I did realize also after the fact that my hairlight was a bit too low, onto the platform for most of the show. I did not notice it while reviewing on the laptop til later in the day. It was not enough to ruin photos but got a lot more shadow on some photos than I wanted.
