Well, the first few days of my trip have passed. Most of it so far has been visiting with the in-laws, but I've managed to sneak outside for some photos. These are from a town called Saratoga, off the Brisbane Water. It is an hour and half north of Sydney, just off the coast.

These are pretty much just the RAW converted to jpeg, I do not have decent editing abilities on my laptop.

This pelican was rather shy. He was gradually floating towards me for about 10 minutes, and the moment I made more than two steps in his direction, he flew off.

The Water edge at sunrise.

Another sunrise with some of the anchored boats.

Sunset on the second night. This was taken off the back porch of the house we stayed in.

In America, people wake to soft bird chirps, maybe a a rooster. In Australia, you wake up to the kookaburras. To me, they sound like loud monkey laughs. It is quite a jolt in the morning when they start up.

Looks like a wonderful place, I've been to Australia twice and enjoyed it very much both times. Those kookaburras are a beautiful and noisy bird. Gorgeous sunset.

Hey Tyler,

Thanks for sharing your photos. My favorite is the 4th of the series. How long will you be there for?

Love the kookaburras. Its fun to go places where you see animals you're not used to seeing. Like James, I like the fourth pic, interesting pattern on the surface of the water.

James, I'm here for 24 days, but the first 12 are all about my wife being able to catch up with family and friends. In a few days we head up to the Great Barrier Reef and Gold Coast, and finish up the trip in Katoomba National Park.
