“We are pleased to see phase one of the C-111 Spreader Canal project completed today, which continues the momentum for restoring America’s Everglades, benefitting Everglades National Park and Florida Bay. Phase one of the C-111 canal project is part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, and the newly constructed features will prevent drainage of Everglades National Park by increasing fresh water flows through Taylor Slough, which will revitalize Florida Bay.

Fred Beckey Climbs Joshua Tree National Park Route at Age 89
Earlier this month, 89-year-old Fred Beckey, one of America's most prolific climbers and mountaineers, tied into a rope with Erik Harz and Felix Parham and seconded the three-pitch route Tranquility (5.6) on Moosedog Tower at Indian Cove in Joshua Tree National Park. The ascent was a few days before Fred's 90th birthday on January 14. Pretty darn amazing ascent for an old guy!

Rocky Mountain National Park managers acted properly within the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Park Service Organic Act when they decided not to use wolves to reduce the elk population in their park, an appellate court has ruled.
