I am having some serious difficulty with banding in my Epson 2200. I have cleaned the heads regularly but cannot figure out what is going on. I am using Epson Premium Luster paper and Epson cartridges.
I feel like somehow it needs a 'deeper clean' than what I am giving it. Any advice?
Have you tried taking a damp cloth with rubbing alcohol and gently gliding the printhead over the cloth? I do this on my Epson 1270. Your are describing an effect that I have found several times on it, though I find it happens in several different colors not just the blacks.
James, Sorry it took me so long to find this posting and respond. My suggestion is you post your problem on the DPR Epson Forum. There is a lady there who monitors the site all the time and she is outstanding on recommendations regarding the 2200 printer, among other things. You can find her either on the Epson forum, or the printing forum. Unfortunately I can't remember her name but she was very helpful to me.
I have the answer to my problem. The MicroBanding, as it is called, is due my using the Epson 2200 at 1440x740 and not 2880x740. I have historically avoided 2880 because the printer moves slower than molasses (2 'l' s?)...however, we now have the answer to our problem.
Thanks all
James
PS Now, my second problem. I am starting to see metamerism in my prints...
